Adwords is a Pay Per Click program owned by Google. It allows users to sign up and distribute adverts for their websites. These adverts are then displayed for specific keywords that the user bids on.
A user bids on the keywords they would like the advert to show up for and the higher the bid the higher the placement in the sponsored listings and the more frequently the advert will show. Depending on the demand to advertise for that keyword the user may pay as little as 5p per click on the advert up to and over £20. Therefore PPC advertising can be a very expensive form of advertising but it can be very successful as you only pay for users that view your website through your advert.
